Over the last 2 centuries, immigrants have journeyed to Canada from East Asia, Southern Asia, Western, Central and Southeast Asia, bringing our society a rich cultural heritage representing many languages, ethnicities and religious traditions.

Learning about how the contributions of people of Asian origin have, and continue to, shape the country as we know it today is important all year round, not only during the month of May. Discover some of the events that helped shape the history of communities of Asian heritage in Canada here.

Food stories connect us
Today, we’re sharing our first VetStrategy cookbook featuring recipes from some of our Asian team members. Thank you to our colleagues who contributed to this resource with your family’s favourite and meaningful dishes. We acknowledge that while featuring nine recipes does not fully capture diversity across the almost 50 countries within Asia, we honour all team members for whom food carries significant cultural ties or fond memories.

Whether you recreate a dish at home with your family and use this as an opportunity to talk about Asian Heritage Month, you connect with an organization in your community, or you educate yourself on the challenges and achievements of Asian Canadians, there are many ways we can honour and celebrate our team members.
